What is the cost of a Funeral Plan?

Pre-paid funeral plans start from £2,390. You can pay for your funeral plan in full or monthly starting from £19.19. Funeral director’s fees and services are guaranteed (nothing further to pay towards them).

Studies have shown that funeral costs are rising considerably year on year. Over the past nine years the price of an average funeral has risen by six per cent each year. This means that in 2000 the cost of a funeral was around £1,500 to £2,000 – but it has now inflated to almost £6,000 in some places.

Funeral director’s fees and services are guaranteed with all our funeral plans (nothing further to pay towards them). They are:

24 hour collection (within 25 miles*), and transfer to funeral home/chapel of rest.
Provision of a standard, veneered coffin with nameplate.
Care and preparation.
Chapel of rest viewing.
Consultation with the family regarding the funeral arrangements (time, date, location of funeral, etc).
Organising and conducting the funeral, including funeral procession.
Provision of a hearse and bearers.
Provision of following limousine(s) (depending on the plan you choose).
* Mileage over 25 miles will be charged at the funeral director's rate at the time of need.

Why Choose a Funeral Plan?

PEACE OF MIND
Choosing a Funeral Plan is one of the most effective and affordable methods by which to protect your family and loved ones against the burden of rising funeral costs, and spare them the distress of having to make difficult decisions as to what your particular preferences for your funeral might be.
PERSONAL CHOICE
We provide a comprehensive range of options to suit all tastes and budgets. Most can be tailored to suit particular preferences, from the big things - like whether you want to be cremated or buried - to the smaller things - like your choice of music and flowers. Also, with the exception of the Direct Cremation, all can be personalised, meaning they can be adapted to include any specific features or elements particular to you, but which perhaps aren't included as standard (additional costs may apply).
SECURITY
As one of the UK's premier funeral plan providers, it is of paramount importance to us that our customers' investments are safe and secure. In common with all funeral plan companies, the money you pay towards your Safe Hands Funeral Plan is held in a secure ring-fenced Trust Fund (via Pitmans Trustees Limited). Set up in conjunction with specialist Trust Solicitors, the fund is independently managed by multinational investment bank UBS.
QUALITY OF SERVICE
As you'd expect from one of the UK's leading funeral plan providers, we take customer service very seriously.
AFFORDABILITY
We are acknowledged to be one of the UK's most affordable prepaid funeral plan providers. If you don't wish to pay for your plan in full straight away, we also offer a range of monthly instalment terms covering 12, 24, 36, 60 or 120 months (plans paid for over 12 or 24 months carry no instalment handling charge).
FLEXIBILITY
We offer what we call an 'Either/Or' option - allowing a single plan to be 'shared' between two people, meaning the benefit of the plan can be utilised at either the first death, or at the second
We value your privacy and will always handle your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy.
We will not share your information with 3rd party organisations without your permission.
Is a pre-planned funeral plan right for me?
A pre-paid funeral plan is ideal if you want to save money on the cost of your funeral. Purchasing a funeral plan saves you money because funeral prices are growing at a rate higher than that of inflation. Additionally, it allows you to convey to your loved ones what you would like to be included in your funeral service. It might be that they are unaware of what you would want, or even have different views as to what you would want. A funeral plan ensures that are no arguments between your nearest and dearest.
Can I choose the funeral director?
Our providers have more than 1,000 funeral directors that have a service level agreement. However, you can choose your own funeral director, providing they are not part of the Dignity Group.
Are there any hidden charges?
No. We will take great care to highlight all charges associated with each of the plan options. If you require further clarification, please call us and we'll make sure you understand exactly what is included within the price of your chosen plan.
Is the plan guaranteed to cover the entire cost of the funeral?
The plan is guaranteed to cover in full the funeral director's fees, and there is an allowance of £1,200 to cover cremation fees/interment fees, doctors’ fees and minister/celebrant fees. This allowance increases annually by CPI. Please note, if it is a burial, you must purchase your own plot.
5) Can I buy a funeral plan for someone else?
Yes, you can take out a plan for anyone else. All correspondence will be sent to the person arranging the plan, so confidentiality is assured.
6) What happens once I request a quote?
Once you fill in the form and click submit, your details will be received by our funeral plan advisors who will contact you as soon as possible to discuss your funeral options.
7) How can I pay for the funeral plan?
You can pay in full or over a period of 12, 24, 36, 60 or 120 months.

Rising Funeral Costs

With funeral costs rising in excess of the annual rate of inflation, it is an unfortunate fact, that for many families, budgeting for a funeral by traditional means may no longer be enough to cover the costs.

According to the Bank of England, the current rate of inflation is 2.1%. By comparison, according to the Sun Life Cost of Dying Report 2018, the average cost of a basic funeral rose from £4,078 in 2017 to £4,271 in 2018 - an increase of 4.7%. This means that over the last year, average basic funeral costs have risen well in excess of inflation.
Take out a Funeral Plan today and take peace of mind from knowing, that no matter how long you live and/or however much the funeral director's fees and services may be when you pass away, the loved ones you leave behind will not have anything further to pay towards them.
